THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIAPLITY OF CALVIN NOTICE OF MEETING SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL December 9, 2022 at 3:30 PM
Council Chambers – Open Session to begin around 4:30 PM
In accordance with s. 4.3.2 of the Interim Procedural By-Law #2022-062, the Head of Council hereby provides this notice to the Members of council, of a Special Meeting of Council, pursuant to ss. 1.34 and 4.3.1 of the Interim Procedural By-Law #2022-062.
Be advised that the purpose of this Special Meeting of Council will be to discuss the following Important Matters by way of a Closed session pursuant to ss. 239(2)(a)(b)(d) & (f) :
Services of some service providers.
Position of Clerk Pro Tempore.
Temporary Suspension and/or Permanent Reassignment of the supervisory/managerial duties of a municipal employee.
Temporary Suspension and/or Permanent Reassignment of the signing authority of a municipal employee.
AND further be advised that the purpose of this Special Meeting of Council will be to discuss and vote on/dispense with the following Important Matters by way of an Open session:
Position of Deputy Clerk Pro Tempore.
Position of Clerk Pro Tempore.
Temporary Suspension and/or Permanent Reassignment of the supervisory/managerial duties of a municipal employee.
Temporary Suspension and/or Permanent Reassignment of the signing authority of a municipal employee.
Immediate or future appointment of a new Clerk.
Termination of commercial relationships/contracts with services provider(s) of Calvin.
Terminate retainer of Wishart Law as municipal lawyers.
Retain Thomas J. Davis of/and Valin Partners LLP as the new lawyers for the Corporation of the Municipality of Calvin.
Bylaw pertaining to future copyrighted bylaws
Repeal/revocation of the following by-laws 2022-65, 2022-051 and 2019-001.
Terminate current Integrity Commissioner.
Resolve to begin the process of making arrangements for the responsibilities of the Integrity Commissioner to be assigned to the Integrity Commissioner of another municipality.
The purpose of the Special Meeting is for Council to receive in Closed Session education and training – Onboarding of Newly Elected Officials; pursuant to section 239 (3.1) which provides that a meeting of Council or local board or of a committee of either of them may be closed to the pubic if the following conditions are both satisfied:
1) The meeting is held for the purpose of educating or training the members,
2) At the meeting, no member discusses or otherwise deals with any matter in a way that materially advances the business or decision-making of the council, local board or committee.
Council for the Municipality of Calvin will meet in closed session in accordance with Section 239 (2, f), of the Municipal Act to receive advice that is subject to solicitor/client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose.
