TIPS: Signs: “No Trespassing” signs posted around your property will warn against unauthorized use of your land.
Fences/Locked Gates: A fence clearly marks the boundaries of your property. Keep gates locked when they are not in use. Ensure fencing and/or chains that could cause potential harm are made visible for riders.
Lighting: Good lighting can serve as a deterrent and will also make your property less attractive to potential trespassers.
Security Cameras: If placed where they can be seen, security cameras will not only deter potential trespassers, but may capture helpful information if further investigation is required.
IF DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED: Document pertinent information including the date and time. Take photos of the damage, especially if you need to make immediate repairs. As soon as possible, call your local police non-emergency line to report damage to private property (mischief). Take note of police incident number for insurance purposes, as well as repair costs and estimates.
